Árbol siempreverde de Asia meridional (Cananga odorata) de la familia de las Anonáceas (ver chirimoyo).

El nombre significa " flor de flores en el idioma tagalo. Con una altura de 25 m (77 pies) es esbelto, tiene una corteza lisa y está cubierto todo el año de flores colgantes, de pedúnculos largos, muy aromáticas, que tienen seis pétalos angostos y amarillo verdosos. Las hojas son ovales y puntiagudas con bordes undulados. Los frutos ovalados y negros cuelgan en racimo de tallos largos. Con sus flores se hacen guirnaldas y se destila un perfume sutil. El ilang-ilang trepador (Artabotrys odoratissimus) es leñoso y pertenece a la misma familia; es común en emparrados y patios interiores en climas húmedos y cálidos.
